Quinta Vale D’Aldeia

Description / History

The mission is to be among the best and most highly regarded winemakers. We love the ambition!
Sitting in the Douro Superior region the vineyards cover about 80 hectares. Wines from this sun exposed area are typically young and fresh. The main feature is the acidity they acquire during ripening.

In the vineyard grape vareties are organized by ripening desire. At a higher altitude white grapes produce a better balance of acidity and alcohol content. Wines are more fresh and aromatic. At lower levels reds are grown as they take longer to ripen.

The red grape varieties used are Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão, Tinta Amarela and Sousão.
The main white varieties favoured are Viosinho, Rabigato, Gouveio, Alvarinho and Verdelho da Madeira.
