Description / History

Koldo Eguren is fifth generation of a wine producing family. He is leading the project in Rioja Alavesa where he wants to translate the landscape into a bottle of wine. All 9.5 hecatares are planted with 80 years old Tempranillo vines. Since the beginning Koldo has been applying a viticulture focusing on sustainability and have incorporated organic viticulture practices. Harvest is carried out manually. Grapes are manually sorted at the selection table.

What to expect from UKAN? The altitude of 500-600meters above sea level, calcareous soil and wetter weather contributes to well-balanced wines. The wines are vinified in smaller oak barrels and concrete tanks.

Koldo started the winery 6 years ago and is now showcasing his skills producing rich and fresh Rioja wines. The ageing potential of the wines is between 5-10 years. Fantastic project
