Description / History

In the small village of Uruñuela in Rioja Alta (DOCa), of just 967 inhabitants, we find ZINIO Bodegas. The 450 hectares are treated the most sustainable way possible. Over 200 families have made their land available for wine production for ZINIO Bodegas. This is truly a high level community winery. Additionally, the local stork protecting project is support by the winery. When you support ZINIO Bodegas directly via theCoWine.com, it benefits the local community and wildlife. Beautiful.

The climate is most Mediterranean influenced by the Atlantic ocean. Over 22 different types of soil across the vineyards allows for unique diversity of wines. The grapes cared for at the vineyards are: Tempranillo, Tempranillo Blanco, Grenache and Graciano.

Diversity in the workforce is also important to ZINIO. 80% of the staff is women, and 5 of 7 of the comittee members are females too. This is indeed a winery with focus on all the right aspects of our life: community, environment, equality and, onot to forget, great wine!
